There was this brilliant actor I got to work with every Thursday night for many years at a lovely place called the Casting Break which was an actor’s showcase in Studio City. Will Radford was his name. Well, Will Robinson was his actual name but his first agent didn’t like the fact his name was the same as Billy Mummy’s character in Lost in Space and asked Will to change his name and he happened to be on Radford Street going to an audition at CBS studios while talking to that agent and so he decided to change his name to Will Radford. He was a fantastic human. He shared a lot of his knowledge about how to be a working actor in Hollywood and even though I couldn’t quite hack it at the level Will had managed he never lost faith in my talent. I love the guy and unfortunately I was informed by a mutual friend that he passed away a couple weeks ago. He always helped me in my endeavors. We often worked on spec projects together, we did a wicked bastardization of scenes from David Rabe’s Hurly Burly for casting directors on Thursday nights. In recent years we didn’t really bump into each other too often. I did just happen to speak with him a month ago - which turned into a 5 hour phone conversation. I loved the guy. He never became a household name yet I feel his talent deserved it. There are many of us who never really make it. Like I said, I loved the guy. I’m just sad knowing he’s no longer with us. If you want to check out his reel you will see he's a talented fellow.... Will Radford’s Reel on IMDB The reel is six minutes.
